Michael Marano, Co-Founder CEO
Michael is an experienced corporate and commercial strategy leader with background in business line management, financial and physical trading, business development and portfolio analysis across the environmental, energy and financial markets.
Most recently, Michael held the role of head of strategy and business development at APX, one of the world’s leading providers of innovative technology and solutions for environmental commodity and power markets. Key responsibilities included the efficient allocation of resources and leading business development initiatives for new global registry opportunities. Prior to APX, Michael held multiple roles at CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives exchange. As director of corporate strategy, Michael helped lead enterprise ESG strategy development, engaged in organic and inorganic growth strategy formulation and worked cross functionally to prepare material for the executive committee of the board of directors. Michael also held the role of director energy products, as a member of the energy business line management team, responsible for managing the North American natural gas, power and weather product lines. Responsibilities focused on product management, product development, pricing, technology roadmap, and working with the client development and sales team on customer segmentation and marketing campaign development. Prior to CME, Michael held multiple roles in energy trading, such as electricity options trading, weather derivative portfolio development and natural gas financial trading.
Michael received his MBA from Johns Hopkins University and his BA from The College of the Holy Cross. He currently serves on the advisory committee for the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Program.
Dominic Sutton-Vermeulen, Co-Founder Chief Product Officer
Dominic Sutton-Vermeulen comes from a diverse background in agricultural and alternative asset research, product/portfolio development, environmental markets, exchange markets, trading, and derivatives.
Most recently, Dominic was principal and CEO of Climate-Smart Commodities Corp. (CSCC), a boutique advisory firm that worked with large agri-food companies to create tradeable environmental assets in commodity value chains. Prior to CSCC, Dominic was a portfolio manager at ReHarvest Partners where he managed the soil and water outcomes fund – one of the largest ag carbon and ecosystem services market projects in the U.S. During his tenure, Dominic grew environmental assets under management 24x and helped secure offtake commitments from numerous public and private entities, including the USDA and large agri-food companies. At CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives exchange, he was responsible for the research and design of derivative instruments linked to carbon, water, weather, and renewable energy. Throughout his career, Dominic has contributed significantly to thought leadership in the field, authoring numerous white papers and presenting on topics such as price discovery, market liquidity, climate risk, and the impacts of volatility on commodity markets and options strategies.
Dominic is in the final stages of completing his MS in Energy Policy and Climate from Johns Hopkins University and holds a BBA in economics and a BA in Spanish literature from the University of Iowa.
